2003: Battled a foot injury throughout the season. Missed the last five games of the year. Played in seven games, starting all of those. Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Second Team. Registered a career-high six tackles (four solo) against Army (9/20). Tallied five tackles (three solo) against Houston (10/11). Credited with his only sack of the year against Northwestern State (9/6). Recovered a fumble against Louisville (10/17) in his last game of the season.
2002: Top freshman along Tulane's senior-dominated defensive line. Earned C-USA All-Freshman honors from The Sporting News. Second team left defensive end who compiled 27 tackles, 18 solo. Saw action in every game and was credited with four tackles for loss. Accumulated a season-high four tackles, all solo, with one TFL versus Southern (8/31). Sacked the UL-Monroe quarterback. Recovered a fumble versus Cincinnati (10/12) and forced one in the Navy game (10/26). Also collected tackles for loss versus Memphis (9/21) and TCU (11/9). Credited with three solo stops in the UAB game (10/19).
HIGH SCHOOL: A first team all-district selection in 2001. Listed as one of SuperPrep's preseason All-Americans. Made the all-district squad as a junior as well. Missed a number of games his senior season due to a broken foot. Credited with 107 tackles and seven sacks as a junior. Recovered a pair of fumbles. Played for coach Gary Koch at Memorial. Threw the shot put and the discus in the spring.
PERSONAL: Michael Paul Roberts. Born March 11, 1984 in Houston. The son of Jack and Wanda Roberts. Straight A student in honors courses who was also a member of the National Honor Society. Majoring in finance at Tulane. A member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for 2002-03 and 2003-04.
