Green Wave to honor its 13-member senior class during a pre-game ceremony
The Green Wave lost 33-17 to the Memphis Tigers on October 22nd, 2011 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Career Notes: Four-year letterman has played in 39 games with 16 starts during his career...helped block for a pair of 100-yard rushing efforts.
2011: Started all 13 games at center as a senior...helped the team average 126.3 rushing and 214.0 passing yards per game...instrumental in the team rolling up a season-best 540 yards of total offense, including a season-high 262 on the ground, at UAB (9/17)...blocked for a pair of 300-yard passing efforts, including a season-best 377 at Memphis (10/22)...paved the way for a pair of 100-yard rushing efforts by teammate Orleans Darkwa...off the field, was a member of Tulane's 3.0 Club.
2010: Saw action in all 12 games as a junior, including one start at center against Southeastern Louisiana (9/2)...key reserve who played both center and guard...helped the offense average 127.5 rushing and 245.8 passing yards per game.
2009: Played in seven games as a sophomore, including starts at center at LSU (10/31) and at UCF (11/21)...also saw action against BYU (9/12), Marshall (10/10), Houston (10/17), Southern Miss (10/24) and SMU (11/28)...in games he played, helped the team average 84.6 rushing yards and 176.3 passing yards per game.
2008: Saw action in seven games as a redshirt-freshman, playing along the offensive line against East Carolina (9/12), Louisiana-Monroe (9/20), SMU (9/25), Army (10/4), UTEP (10/11), Rice (10/25) and LSU (11/1)...in games he played, helped the team average 151.1 rushing yards and 231.0 passing yards per game.
2007: Did not play as a true freshman...redshirted the season.
High School: Three-year letterman at St. Thomas High where he played offensive guard and tackle, tight end and defensive tackle for coach Kurt Page...named first-team all-state and All-District 3-6A his final two prep seasons and helped the Eagles advance to the state semifinals as a junior...earned Hatnett Award as a senior, which is awarded annually by St. Thomas to honor the student-athlete who best defines courage, dedication and leadership...also lettered in wrestling and track and field.
Personal: Born Joseph William Ray on May 10, 1989, in Tomball, Texas...son of Jim and Therese Ray...has one brother and two sisters...completed his degree in finance in May 2012.
