2001: Saw action in five games for the Green Wave (BYU, Southern, TCU, UAB and Army).
2000: Saw action in two games (East Carolina and Houston) at offensive guard as a true freshman.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2000 graduate of Catholic High School, where he lettered in football, track and basketball. A three-time all-district selection and two-time all-area honoree. Led his team with 80 tackles as a senior. Played for Coach Keith Annulis. Also earned all-district honors in the shot put for the track team.
PERSONAL: Joseph Paul Mitchell. Born July 30, 1982 in New Iberia, La. The son of Zachary and Josie Mitchell. Has a twin brother. His father played football for Tulane from 1974-77 and then went on to play tight end for the New York Giants. Has sung the national anthem at Tulane basketball games. Majoring in organizational information technology with a minor in music.
