2002 (through regular season): Tied for fifth on the team in receptions with 16. Started four games at split end and backed up Nick Narcisse in the remaining games. Had his most productive day with seven catches for 44 yards versus Army (11/16) when Narcisse sat out. Caught passes in eight of nine games played. Totaled three catches for 24 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown, versus UL-Monroe (10/5). Made one catch in six different games. Started the Memphis, Texas, Army and Southern Miss games.
2001: Redshirted the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned first team 5A all-state quarterback honors from the Dallas Morning News his senior year. Earned first team All-District 12-5A recognition. One of 11 players named to the All-East Texas first team. As a junior, made the honorable mention list for the All-East Texas squad. Led his team to the 2000 5A state championship game versus Katy. As a senior, carried the ball 70 times for 575 yards and completed 56 passes for 735 yards. Passed for 10 touchdowns and ran for five more. In two years on the varsity, rushed for 924 yards for an average of 9.2 yards per carry with 13 touchdowns. Threw for 971 yards with 15 touchdown passes. Played for Coach Allen Wilson at John Tyler. Sprinter who qualified for the regional meet in the 400 and 200. Ran the 400 in 47.5 seconds and posted a best time of 21.4 seconds in the 200.
PERSONAL: Cletus Lamar McGee. Born July 16, 1983. The son of Tommy and Janett Griffin. Has two brothers and three sisters. A member of the National Honor Society.
