2004: In his first year as a starter, finished fourth on the team in total tackles and was second in tackles for loss with eight for minus 36 yards. Also ranked fifth on the team in sacks with 2.5. Made a fourth-down goal-line stop in each of Tulane's last two games to save a TD. At TCU (11/27), his fourth-down tackle at the one-yard line started Tulane's 99-yard game-winning drive. Registered his top game versus Navy (11/6) with a career-high 14 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Led Tulane with 12 stops versus Louisville (12/4) and added a tackle for loss. Also collected eight tackles in the opener against Mississippi State (9/4).
2003: Saw action in 11 games and made a pair of starts at strong-side linebacker against UAB (11/8) and Southern Miss (11/15). Also a key member of Tulane's special teams units. Registered a career-best five tackles (two solo), including 1.5 tackles for loss in the Southern Miss game. Also had four tackles versus UAB and four (all solo) against Texas (9/27).
2002: Back up at the weakside linebacker position. Saw his most extensive action in the Navy (10/26) and TCU (11/9) games. Made three solo tackles and had a tackle for loss in the Navy game. Credited with a career-high five tackles, three solo, at TCU. Also contributed on Tulane special teams.
2001: Redshirted the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: First team all-state linebacker as a senior. Named to the Mobile Press-Register's all-region and all-metro teams. Picked up Mobile Defensive Player of the Year honors from the First & 10 Club, the Optimist Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Team captain for Coach Jim Sudieha. Three-year letterwinner who totaled 340 tackles from 1998-2000. As a senior, credited with 148 tackles, including 87 solo stops. Tallied four quarterback sacks and 10 tackles for loss. Recovered a pair of fumbles and caused four. Picked off a pair of passes. During his junior season, had 118 tackles with 69 solo. For his career, had nine sacks, 19 tackles for loss and four interceptions. Also played basketball and participated in track and field.
PERSONAL: Full name is Antonio Dejuan Mason. Born February 16, 1983 in Mobile, Ala. The son of Samuel and Valerie Mason. Member of the National Honor Society who was ranked 17th out of 379 seniors in his high school class with a 4.34 grade point average. A Ventures Scholar who was listed in Who's Who Among American Students. A double major in finance and marketing. Selected to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2004-05.
