2003: A Conference USA All-Freshman Team selection. Played in all 12 games, including three starts at middle linebacker. Registered 49 tackles (36 solo) to rank eighth on the team while tallying six tackles for loss, tied for third-best on the squad. Recorded two or more tackles in every game, including a career-best six on three occasions. Posted six solo tackles including a tackle for loss against Texas (9/27). Notched six stops and added two and a half tackles for loss and his first career sack against Southern Miss (11/15). Also had six takedowns against Navy (11/1). Forced a fumble against Northwestern State (9/6) and recovered a fumble in his first collegiate game against TCU (9/1).
HIGH SCHOOL: Selected to Florida's 6A All-State first team by the Florida Sportswriters Association as a senior in 2001. A three-time All-Dade County choice, including first team as a senior. One of the Orlando Sentinel's Dandy Dozen linebackers. Career totals include 337 tackles, 24 sacks, 14 fumbles recovered and five interceptions. As a senior, totaled 175 tackles, caused four fumbles, recovered eight fumbles and compiled 10 quarterback sacks. His junior season, credited with 114 tackles and eight sacks. Picked off two passes, recovered four fumbles and forced four. Team went 9-3 his senior year and advanced to the second round of the playoffs under Coach Andrew Brown. Also played basketball and ran track. Named MVP of the basketball team as a junior. Earned Most Improved Award in track. Member of the school's Honor Roll.
