2004: Played in all 11 games with 10 starts at tight end. Recorded nine catches for 78 yards. Had a season-high three catches for 29 yards against Army (11/13). Recorded his lone touchdown grab of the season with a nine-yard reception in the win over TCU (11/27).
2003: Redshirted the season after injuring his knee during the preseason.
2002: Tulane's top tight end for the second straight season. Caught 11 passes for 95 yards but was used primarily in a blocking role in 2002. Started seven games. Had his most productive day versus UAB (10/19) with three catches for 29 yards. Followed that with a pair of catches for seven yards and a touchdown versus Navy (10/26). Scored from two-yards out just before halftime to give Tulane a 30-20 lead. Made catches in seven games. Had a career-long 20-yard grab in the bowl game against Hawai'i (12/25). Added a nine-yard catch in the Memphis contest (9/21) and an eight-yarder against Army (11/16).
2001: Earned Freshman All-America honors from The Sporting News after playing in all 12 games as the number one tight end for the Green Wave. Selected to the C-USA All-Freshmen Team. Caught passes in nine games, including a career-best five catches for 50 yards against Cincinnati (10/6). Also had his first career TD reception in the Cincy game, a 13-yard grab in the first quarter. His 15 catches were the most by a Tulane tight end since 1996 when Jerald Sowell totalled 26 catches. Had three kickoff returns for 21 yards on the year, including a long of 12 against East Carolina (9/8).
HIGH SCHOOL: Two-time first-team all-district tight end out of Taylor High in Katy, playing for Coach Bill Lane. Earned all-district honors in both 1999 and 2000. Led the team and district with 28 catches for 388 yards and three touchdowns as a senior. Caught 18 passes for 305 yards and a pair of scores his junior year. Also lettered in basketball, baseball and track. An honorable mention all-district selection in basketball. Houston area finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award.
PERSONAL: Robert Charles Hoover. Born November 11, 1982. The son of Don and Martha Hoover. Earned the Outstanding Student and Citizenship Awards for Katy High. Majoring in legal studies.
