Demiah Freeman

First team all-state selection out of Astronaut High. Also a first team Cape Coast Conference selection and was named the 2000 defensive player of the year. Named a 2001 Preseason All-American and All-Region selection by Super Prep. Rivals had him as the number 36 linebacker in their Top 100 linebackers list. Three-year starter who was credited with 101 tackles as a senior. Sacked the quarterback six times and picked off a pair of passes. Also caused three fumbles and recovered two. For his career, totaled 283 tackles, 21 sacks, six interceptions, six fumbles caused and five fumble recoveries. His junior season, had 98 tackles, 10 sacks and three INTs. Team won the city championship in 2001 and was the runner-up in their district. The previous year, advanced to the 3A state championship game after winning the district and city titles. Also a four-year letterwinner in track and field and lettered twice in basketball. Astronaut won the Class 2A state championship in track and field in 2000 and Freeman ran the leadoff leg on the state champion 4x100 meter relay team. Chose Tulane "because of the education I can get there, and because I have a chance to come in and play early."
