2001: Played in 10 games with four starts at strong safety. Ranked 11 th on the team with 36 tackles (28 solo). Posted a season-best eight tackles (seven solo) at Cincinnati (10/6). Had six tackles and forced and recovered a fumble against Southern (9/29). Also had six takedowns in the BYU game (8/25).
2000: Played in all 11 games, including a start against Ole Miss (9/2) in the season opener. Recorded 40 tackles (26 solo) for the season. Posted a career-best 10 tackles (five solo) against Ole Miss (9/2). Had a big game against Navy (11/11) as well with six solo tackles, his first career sack and a forced fumble. Also tallied a forced fumble against Southern Miss (10/14). Collected two pass break-ups (against Southern Miss and Houston).
1999: Saw action in 10 of the 11 games. Had six solo tackles and five assisted stops.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 1999 graduate of LaGrange High School, where he lettered in football, track and baseball. Earned all-district honors as a senior with 37 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries in 1998. Credited with 10 pass break-ups. Named second-team all-state by the Louisiana High School Coaches Association. Also earned All-Southwestern Louisiana honors and Class 5A honorable mention all-state. Also played wide receiver. Coached by Mike Johns.
PERSONAL: Terry Houston Fontenot. Born December 16, 1980 in Lake Charles, La. The son of Roy and Jacquetta Fontenot. One of seven children. Majoring in organizational information technology.
