Born July 22, 1947, Warren Bankston is from Hammond, Louisiana. He played football at Hammond high, and after graduation he attend Tulane University. A reserve quarterback as a sophomore and in the first half of his junior season, he was switched to fullback midway through the '67 campaign and emerged as the team's leading rusher. Starting in just five games, he netted (473) infantry yards and averaged (3.9) yards per carry. He passed for (165) yards and ran for (232) as a sophomore, and had (115) aerial yards in '67.
