Career Notes: Four-year letterman played in 46 career games with 27 starts...posted 71 tackles (30 solo, 41 assists), 4.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, one pass break-up and a forced fumble.
2011: Played in all 13 games with 12 starts at defensive tackle as a senior...ranked fourth among defensive linemen and tied for 15th on the team overall with 20 tackles (8 solo, 12 assists)...finished tied for fourth on the squad in forced fumbles (1) and also posted 1.5 tackles for loss...tallied a season-best four tackles on three occasions: four assisted stops at Duke (9/24) and 2-solo, 2-assists performances at Army (10/1) and at Rice (11/19)...posted a career-best 1.5 tackles for loss at Rice.
2010: Saw action in all 12 games as a junior, including nine starts...finished tied for fifth in sacks (1.0), tied for seventh in tackles for loss (2.5), tied for eighth in pass break-ups (1) and 12th with 20 tackles (7 solo, 13 assists)...had a career-best five stops (3 solo, 2 assists vs Army (10/9)...recorded first career tackle for loss with a sack among two stops (1 solo, 1 assist) against Southeastern Louisiana (9/2)...also posted three-tackle performances at UTEP (10/23), which included a half tackle for loss, and at Marshall (11/27).
2009: Played in all 12 games as a sophomore, including six starts...finished tied for 18th overall and tied for fourth among defensive linemen in tackles with 17 (8 solo, 9 assists)...tied a season-high with three tackles vs Tulsa (9/4), against McNeese State (9/26), at Southern Miss (10/24) and at UCF (11/21)...also tallied a two-tackle day at Army (10/3).
2008: Saw action in nine games as a true freshman, including five starts...finished tied for 19th overall and tied for sixth among defensive linemen with 14 tackles (7 solo, 7 assists)...recorded a career-high three tackles vs Army (10/4) and tied the mark at Houston (11/8)...also posted two-tackle outings vs East Carolina (9/12), at LSU (11/1) and vs UAB (11/15)...off the field, was a member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Tulane's 3.0 Club.
High School: Three-year letterman at Alief Elsik High where he played on both the offensive and defensive lines for coach Bill Barron...earned All-District 18-5A honors his final two seasons as a prepster and was twice named the team's most valuable defensive lineman...as a senior, posted 84 tackles, including 34 tackles for loss and seven sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass break-ups and a blocked field goal...as a junior, tallied 76 tackles, including four sacks among 27 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries...also lettered twice in track and field, and twice in power lifting...off the field, is a two-time member of the academic all-state team and the President's Education Awards Program.
Personal: Born Chris Chimezie Asumnu on Dec. 18, 1989, in Houston, Texas...one of four children of Christian and Rose Asumnu...sister, Gloria, was an All-American track standout at Tulane...brother, Stanley, played collegiate basketball at Tennessee and professionally for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Developmental League...majored in communication.
