Dec. 26, 2000

NEW ORLEANS, La. - As the New Orleans Saints begin their playoff quest for the Super Bowl, Tulane University would like to pledge its support to its NFL neighbor and to its fans by offering a special nightcap for fans who attend the Saints first-round playoff game on Saturday, Dec. 30 at the Superdome. Any fan presenting a Saints ticket stub will receive a half-price ticket to Tulane's men's basketball game against Southern University, which tips off at 8 p.m. at New Orleans Arena, located next door to the Superdome. The basketball game time has been changed from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to accomodate Saints fans.

By taking advantage of this special Saints offer, an adult can purchase an end zone ticket to the Green Wave game for just $7, a sideline ticket is priced at $9, and children's tickets will be $4 with this promotion.

"The Saints are doing so well and they are getting great support from the fans," Tulane men's basketball coach Shawn Finney said. "It shows what a great sports town New Orleans is. We hope all the fans will come over to our game and take advantage of the half-price tickets."

The Southern game is Tulane's first "home" game at New Orleans Arena. This Thursday's contest against nationally-ranked Florida is being hosted by the Nokia Sugar Bowl at the Arena. In addition to discounted tickets for Saints fans, the game will be sponsored by WQUE 93.3 FM and WYLD 98.5 FM. All Tulane men's games feature a chance for one lucky fan to leave the Arena with $10,000 if they can sink four shots in the $10,000 Halftime Shootout, sponsored by Bell South, Bell South Mobility and Bell South Yellow Pages.

In the spirit of the season, basketball season, that is, Tulane is offering three men's basketball ticket packages. The Big Fan Game Plan is a six-game package that includes exciting action versus Southern (Dec. 30), Louisville (Jan. 10) and DePaul (Feb. 17) at the New Orleans Arena and contests versus UAB (Jan. 20), South Florida (Feb. 3) and Houston (Feb. 21) at Fogelman Arena. Cost for the Big Fan Game Plan for adults is just $108 for seating on the side court and $84 in the end zone, while tickets are available for youths in the end courts for $48.
