Men's Basketball
Devlin Fieldhouse Through the Years

Dec. 19, 2003

The Green Wave played its first game at Tulane Gym (now Devlin Fieldhouse) on Dec. 15, 1933. The following photo gallery highlights many of the great men's basketball players and moments in the building's history. By no means meant to be all-inclusive, it is a glimpse of the men's basketball greatness in the gym. Tulane's women's basketball and volleyball teams have also enjoyed much success in the facility.

LeVeldro Simmons (1993-97) helped the Green Wave to one of its highlights in 1997, as Tulane advanced to the semifinals of the NIT, losing to Nebraska, but beating Alabama in Madison Square Garden.

The Green Wave has hosted many teams through the years at Fogelman Arena. Here John Sutter and the Wave battle North Carolina on Dec. 20, 1969.

In 1992, Tulane won 22 games and captured the Metro Conference Championship. Tulane went on to upset St. John's in the NCAA Tournament.

On Jan. 28, 1991, Tulane shcoked nationally-ranked neighbor UNO, defeating the Privateers, 84-83 in double-overtime at Fogelman Arena/

Men's basketball is not the only team which enjoys Fogelman Arena. Tulane's women's hoop team has advanced to nine consecutive NCAA Tournaments entering 2003-04.

Jerald Honeycutt (1993-97), who is playing professionally in Russia (Dec., 2003), ranks in Tulane's top five in 25 different categories.

Big man John Williams (1980-84) went on to become the Green Wave's most successful pro, playing 13 years in the NBA, including nine with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
