NEW ORLEANS - Kajon Mack, a sophomore guard for the Tulane men's basketball team, will miss the remainder of the season and will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair injuries to his left ankle, Green Wave head coach Ed Conroy announced on Wednesday.

Mack has not played this season due to his injury, but played in 29 games last year as a freshman with seven starts. The Los Angeles native averaged 2.7 points and 1.2 rebounds last season and scored a career-high 16 points against Houston.

"Not having Kajon this season has been tough for the program and is very hard on Kajon because he is such a competitor," Conroy said. "He was going to be a stabilizing figure for our team with his experience he gained last year and he had an exceptional summer and was prepared to make big strides this season. We were certainly counting on him heavily and we will miss his athleticism, his skill level and all the intangibles that he brings to the game. We are confident he will make a full recovery and I am excited about watching him play for the Green Wave next season."

Tulane returns to action this weekend when it host the Westin Holiday Classic in Devlin Fieldhouse. UW-Milwaukee, Northeastern and Alabama State complete the field. Saturday's game times have been changed due to the Green Wave football team's participation in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Tulane basketball will face Alabama State at 2 p.m. CT followed by Northeastern vs. UW-Milwaukee at 4 p.m. CT. Sunday's schedule will be Alabama State taking on UW-Milwaukee at 3 p.m. CT and Tulane facing Northeastern at 5 p.m. CT
