NEW ORLEANS, La. - Freshman guard Michael Harris (Washington, D.C.) has left the Tulane men's basketball team due to personal reasons, head coach Shawn Finney announced Tuesday. He will not return for next semester.
The freshman had played in all eight games for Tulane this season, averaging 18.5 minutes per game. He was averaging 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game for the Green Wave.
Harris was a standout football, basketball, and baseball player at H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, D.C., before coming to Tulane.
Tulane has posted a 5-3 record thus far, including wins in its last two games at Fogelman Arena. The Green Wave is currently engaged in final exams, but returns to the hardwood on Thursday, Dec. 21, playing the University of New Orleans at Lakefront Arena. Following the Christmas holiday, Tulane battles nationally-ranked Florida at New Orleans Arena (Dec. 28, 7 p.m.) and takes on Southern University, also at New Orleans Arena (Dec. 30, 7 p.m.).
