SAN DIEGO - For the first time since the 1993-94 season the Tulane men's basketball team will play a game in California when the Green Wave face the University of San Diego at 8 p.m. CT on Saturday in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Tulane (7-2) hasn't played in the Golden State since playing in the Otis Spunkmeyer Classic in Oakland on Dec. 10-11, 1993.

The Green Wave is coming off a four-game homestand where they won all four contests. Tulane got past Southern, Loyola (NO), Navy and Nicholls State at Devlin Fieldhouse.

Green Wave Claim Hoops for Hope Title
Josh Davis and Tomás Brůha each collected double doubles to lead the Tulane men's basketball team to a 65-46 victory over San Diego on Sunday night in New Orleans Arena to claim the 2011 Hoops for Hope Classic championship.

Tulane is led by junior forward Josh Davis 17.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, while sophomore guard Ricky Tarrant is posting 14.3 points per outing and senior guard Jordan Callahan adds 12.3 points per contest.

The Green Wave as a team are averaging 65.7 points per game, are shooting 39.7 percent from the floor and 34.4 percent from 3-point range.

"This is a chance to go back on the road," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "We've had two road contests this year and we showed great improvement from the first one to the second. We are looking for those same kind of strides going from the second to the third road game of the year."

Tulane fell at Georgia Tech to open on the season on Nov. 9 and then lost at Nebraska on Nov. 21.

USD (4-5), a member of the West Coast Conference, is coming home for the first time since Nov. 18 and has played four straight on the road. The Toreros fell to UC Santa Barbara, Montana and Stephen F. Austin to start the road swing before getting a win at Southern Utah this past Tuesday.

Sophomore guard Johnny Dee leads USD with 14.6 points per game, while fellow sophomore guard Christopher Anderson is posting 10.3 points per contests.

The Toreros are averaging 64.2 points per outing, are shooting 44.3 percent from the floor and hitting 37.5 percent from 3-point range.

This will be just the second time the two schools will meet on the court. Tulane defeated USD, 65-46, in the final game of the Hoops for Hope Classic on Nov. 27, 2011 in New Orleans Arena.

Saturday's game will be televised live on FOX Sports San Diego as part of a double header with the Toreros women's team. As always, the game will be broadcast live on the Tulane IMG Sports Network (WIST 690 AM in New Orleans).

Tulane will be off for the next 10 days for final exams and return to the court on Dec. 19 when they host the Tulane Classic in Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave will face Texas-Pan American at 7 p.m. CT following Pepperdine vs. Alabama State at 4 p.m. CT.
