Men's Basketball Hosts Jackson State to Open Home Stand

NEW ORLEANS - Looking to snap a five-game losing streak, the Tulane men's basketball team returns home to open a four-game home stand on Saturday when they host Jackson State at 2 p.m. CT in Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Green Wave (4-5) is coming off a 72-57 loss at Wake Forest on Wednesday night behind a 29-point performance by sophomore Louis Dabney.

Jackson State (2-6) has lost back-to-back games, including a home game against Louisiana Tech, 72-61, on Sunday.

"Jackson State is a very good basketball team," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "This is a quality opponent that will really test our guys. This is what we want. We want to be tested and challenged to get this young team up to speed as fast as possible."

Tulane is led by Dabney's 21.4 points per game. The New Orleans native is adding 5.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per outing. Freshman Jonathan Stark is posting 17.2 points and 4.2 assists per game, while junior Jay Hook is chipping in 16.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.

The Green Wave a scoring 71.1 points as a team and allowing 76.3 points per game. Tulane is shooting 43.1 percent from the floor, including 34.7 percent from three-point land.

Jackson State is led by Julysses Nobles' 16.8 points per game and Brandon West's 10.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest.

The Tigers average just 64.5 points per game and are shooting 39.8 percent from the field.

This is the third meeting between the two schools. The previous two meetings were split with Tulane winning the most recent. 94-70, over JSU on Dec. 23, 2002 in New Orleans.

Tulane will take 10 days off for final exams and return to the court on Dec. 17 when they host Washington at 7 p.m. CT.
