Along with a renewed emphasis on increasing student turnout, the Green Wave men's and women's basketball games will feature exciting promotions and entertaining halftimes in 2004-05, according to the promotional schedule announced Monday by the Tulane Athletics Marketing Office.

A signature item will be given away at every Tulane men's game during either the fall of spring semester beginning with the Loyola contest Dec. 3, when one lucky student will win a $250 gift certificate to the Tulane Bookstore. Next semester, students will walk away with prizes such as $500 or $1,000 in cash, a television, bicycle, X-Box, airline tickets and a spring break trip. The effort to increase student turnout will focus on student based giveaways and prizes throughout the year and an enhancement of halftime entertainment.

"Coming off of the success of Midnight Madness, we are hoping to keep student interest piqued by creating student-specific giveaways and continuing to enhance the environment at Fogelman." Director of Marketing Steve Walsh said. "The atmosphere in the arena is driven by the student section and we want to make sure that our students have an enjoyable time at the game."

The emphasis on group sales, building student interest and community participation continues throughout the Green Wave women's basketball season with appearances by Shockwave, the Woodmere Elementary Dance Team, the Slidell Skippers and the St. Clement Dance Team. With the Tulane-TCU game on Jan. 9 scheduled for broadcast on Cox Sports Television, a whole host of activities are planned and groups have been invited to that game.

Fans attending games will also notice an increase in the number of fan-participation contests and a wide array of prizes available for those in the stands. Traditional favorites such as the Randazzo's King Cake Giveaway and Bruno's and M. Goldberg contests will be joined by new contests and prizes from Lakewood Golf Club, Hibernia, Wendy's and many others.
