CHARLESTON, S.C. - Riding the momentum of Friday's victory over Penn State, the Tulane basketball team takes to the court on Sunday at 11:30 CST to face LaSalle in the final day of the 2009 Charleston Classic at Carolina First Arena.
The Green Wave (1-2) notched the first victory of the season on Friday against Penn State, 63-60. Kevin Sims finished the game with 11 points and three assists, including a 3-pointer late in the game that sealed the win. Aaron Holmes led the way with 17 points and Kris Richard added 14 points and six rebounds. David Booker had six points, eight rebounds and three blocks in his first start of the season.
"The most important thing for us is to play hard on both ends of the court and play with the same intensity and enthusiasm that we played with on Friday," Tulane head coach Dave Dickerson said. "We are preparing for a LaSalle team that has very good players that beat a very good Davidson team and lost to South Carolina from the SEC by 10 points."
LaSalle (2-1) fell to South Carolina in the opening round of the tournament before getting past Davidson on Friday.
This will be the first meeting between the two programs. LaSalle, located in Philadelphia, is a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Richard, a junior guard, leads Tulane into the game with 14.0 points per game this season and has reached double figures in scoring in each of the first three games. Junior forward David Booker, who started for the first time this season on Friday, is scoring 10.7 points per game and grabbing 6.7 rebounds per outing.
