Men's Basketball Hosts Cedarville To Open Cure UCD Classic

NEW ORLEANS - Call it a business person's special or call it an afternoon matinee, but the Tulane men's basketball team calls it the next game and on Wednesday the Green Wave host Cedarville at 12:30 p.m. CT at Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse in the athletics departments third annual "School Day at Tulane."

The game also marks the first of four games for the Green Wave (3-0) in the Cure UCD Classic. Tulane will also host Northern Kentucky at 9 p.m. CT on Saturday before closing the classic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with games against Texas State and Southeast Missouri State next week.

"We are always excited about this game," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "We are expecting approximately 2,500 school children from the area to be in the arena cheering us on. It should be a great home court advantage and fun for our guys and fun for the fans."

Tulane is coming off a 65-69 victory over Loyola-Chicago on Saturday that saw the Green Wave overcome a 19-point second-half deficit. Louis Dabney and Jonathan Stark each posted 25 points in the win and each garnered Conference USA weekly honors for their performance.

Cedarville, a Division II member of the Division II member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference located in Cedarville, Ohio, is 1-3 this season. CU's lone win came at home in double OT over St. Joseph's (IN) to open the season.

The Green Wave is led by Dabney's 19.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game average, while Stark is posting 18.3 points and 4.3 assists per outing. Jay Hook is adding 16.0 points and 9.0 boards a game.

As a team, Tulane has outscored its opponents by 7.7 points per game in the three wins, while shooting 40.7 percent from the floor.

Cedarville is averaging 78.5 points per game in the first four contests of the season, but allows 90.0 points per game. The Yellow Jackets are led by Marcus Reineke and J.C. Faubion's 15.0 points per game.

The Green Wave continue their home stand with Northern Kentucky on Saturday at 9 p.m. CT.

Season tickets for the 2013-14 Tulane men's basketball season will cost $250 for reserved courtside, $125 for adult baseline, $50 for youth baseline and $300 for the "Family 4 Pack" which includes two adult and two youth tickets.
