Tulane Basketball Game at No. 7/8 Texas to Be Televised on Fox Sports Southwest

New Orleans - The Tulane men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season when the Green Wave journeys deep into the heart of the state of Texas to take on the No. 7/8 ranked Texas Longhorns in a regionally televised game from the Frank Erwin Center on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. Kevin Eschenfelder will describe the play-by-play, while Chris Plonsky will provide color analysis. The contest will be available on Cox Cable of New Orleans Channel 38, DirecTV Channel 676 and DISH Network Channel 416 and on Fox Sports Southwest across the state of Louisiana. The game will also be broadcast on selected outlets in the state of Texas (Ch. 77 on Time Warner Cable in Austin; Fox Sports Southwest in San Antonio and markets west of Austin and San Antonio; Fox Sports Houston). It also will be carried on ESPN Full Court outside the state of Texas. The Green Wave (1-0) dispatched McNeese State in the 2008-09 season opener at Fogelman Arena, 68-62, behind 17 points each from guards Kevin Sims and Kris Richard, while Robinson Louisme added 11 points. Tulane returns two of its top three scorers from last season in Kevin Sims and Robinson Louisme. Sims, who averaged 12.2 points and 3.8 assists per game, is the team's top returning scorer and assists leader, and also led the team in three-pointers (46), while Louisme, who averaged 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds, is the Wave's top returning rebounding leader. The Green Wave returns seven total letterwinners for the 2008-09 campaign, including three starters (Sims, Louisme, Daniel Puckett) and will feature two players who sat out last season and four newcomers. No. 7/8 Texas (1-0) walloped Stetson in its 2008-09 opener at home last Friday, 68-38, behind 21 points from A.J. Abrams. The Longhorns return 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's 31-7 team that tied for the Big 12 Conference title and advanced to the NCAA "Elite Eight" for the seventh time in school history. Abrams is the top returning scorer for the Longhorns with 16.5 points per game a year ago, while Damion James is the only other Texas player returning who averaged double figures last season (13.2), and was also the team's leading rebounder with 10.3 boards per outing. UT head coach Rick Barnes is in his 11th season at Texas and has a mark of 248-93 at the school. Tuesday's game marks the 16th all-time meeting between Tulane and Texas and the Longhorns lead the series 9-6. The last time these two schools met on the hardwood was during the 1972-73 season in Austin, and the host Longhorns handed the Green Wave an 85-68 setback. Tulane's last win over Texas was a 108-95 victory at home during the 1968-69 campaign. Tulane has an all-time record of 90-74 against 17 teams from the state of Texas. The Green Wave's last win in the state of Texas came last year at Rice, 84-77, on Feb. 2, 2008.
