NEW ORLEANS - Coming off a solid season-opening victory last Friday, the Tulane men's basketball team continues the homestand Tuesday when Nicholls State visits Fogelman Arena for a 7 p.m. CT tip.

The Green Wave (1-0) defeated Alabama A&M, 72-63, to begin the season last Friday behind a 15-point, 12-rebound performance from sophomore Josh Davis and 16 points from Kendall Timmons.

Nicholls State (0-1) continues the tour of the state to begin the season after visiting Baton Rouge Saturday for the opener against LSU. The Colonels fell, 96-74, but received 19 points from Trevon Lewis and 13 points from Chris Talkington.

"The games are going to come at a rapid pace in November and December and I think that is what this team needs," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "Obviously practice time is valuable, but we also have so many young guys that game experience is something you can't put a price on. I'm anxious to see our guys take the court again and hopefully show as much improvement as they did from our exhibition game to game one."

Davis, the sophomore transfer from N.C. State, leads Tulane after his season-opening performance. Timmons, a preseason first-team All-Conference USA selection added three rebounds and three assists to his 16 points in the opener, while senior guard Trent Rogers added nine points and five assists off the bench.

This will be the 19th meeting between the two in-state foes. Tulane owns a 17-1 series lead, including 15-0 in games played in New Orleans. Nicholls State earned their first win of the series last season with a 66-52 win on Nov. 26 in Thibodeaux.

Tulane completes the three-game homestand Friday when they host Maryland-Eastern Shore at Fogelman Arena at 12:30 p.m. CT before hitting the road at Navy next Tuesday.
