NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane University men's basketball team will play its final exhibition game on Saturday at 12 noon, hosting Vasda at Fogelman Arena. Fans are encouraged to make it a day of Green Wave sports, the football team hosts Navy at 5 p.m. at the Superdome.
Tickets for the basketball game will be available at the door, starting at $14 for adults and $8 for children. Football game tickets will also be available at the gate, starting at $23. For ticket information on all Green Wave athletic events, call 504-861-WAVE.
Tulane dropped its opening exhibition contest on Tuesday to Global Sports, 84-81, despite 21 points each from junior Linton Johnson (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Brandon Spann (New Orleans, La.). Both also recorded double-doubles as Johnson had 13 rebounds and Spann handed out 11 assists.
"We're excited about our second exhibition game," head coach Shawn Finney said. "In this next test we will be able to build on our press and our offensive execution."
Vasda is an adult AAU team made up of former college players who are looking to continue their careers in the professional ranks. Three of the players played their college ball in Louisiana: forward Mmaurice Stephens from Louisiana-Monroe and center Martin Yokum and guard Robert Palmer from McNeese State
Finney is in his first-year as the Green Wave head coach, taking over the program in July. His first official game will be on Friday (Nov. 17) against Nicholls State. The Tulane women open the evening at 6 p.m. against Nicholls and the men's game follows.
