NEW ORLEANS - Both the Tulane men's and women's basketball teams tip off the 2013-14 season Friday night and head coaches Ed Conroy and Lisa Stockton host a preseason basketball radio show on Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. CT from New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood and St. Charles Avenue.
The hour-long show will air on WMTI FM 106.1 "The Ticket" and will feature each coach for 30 minutes. The voice of the Green Wave, Todd Graffagnini, will host the show that precedes the Curtis Johnson Radio Show.
Conroy begins his fourth season as the head coach of the Green Wave. He guided Tulane to a 20-15 record and the program's first postseason appearance since 1999-2000 as they reached the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT).
The 2013-14 Green Wave team consists of three seniors (Max Keenan, Kevin Thomas and Tomas Bruha), two juniors (Jay Hook and Tre Drye), two sophomores (Louis Dabney and Kajon Mack) and eight freshmen (Jonathan Stark, Mikael Herbert, Cameron Reynolds, Cole Currie, Josh Hearlihy, Ryan Smith, Payton Henson and Ray Barreno).
Stockton, who enters her 20th season at the helm of the Green Wave, returns three starters among seven letterwinners from last year's squad, which finished 24-9 overall, tied for second in the regular-season Conference USA standings with an 11-5 league record, and advanced to the round of 16 in the 2013 WNIT to become the first Green Wave squad to participate to the third round of a postseason tournament in program history.
In addition, Tulane welcomes back sophomores Chinwe Duru and Tierra Jones and returns the services of center Morgan Rogers, who redshirted as a true freshman last season, and senior walk-on Brooke Blankenship, who was not on the team in 2012-13. Tulane also added three highly-touted freshmen in Paije Hall, Courtnie Latham and Leslie Vorpahl.
Both programs open the season on Friday, Nov. 8. The women play host to the University of New Orleans at 6 p.m. CT in Devlin Fieldhouse. That contest is the first half of a Tulane double-header as the men's team will square off against New Jersey Institute of Technology at approximately 8 p.m. CT.
Season tickets to the 2013-14 Tulane women's basketball home slate are $100 for floor seats, $85 for side-court seating and $50 for seats along the baseline. Season tickets for the 2013-14 Tulane men's basketball season will cost $250 for reserved courtside, $125 for adult baseline, $50 for youth baseline and $300 for the "Family 4 Pack" which includes two adult and two youth tickets.
