NEW ORLEANS - Tulane men's basketball head coach Ed Conroy announced that RaAnthony Sanders signed a National Letter of the Intent to join the Green Wave as a freshman for the 2012-13 season.

Sanders is a 6-4 wing from Holt, Ala., where he played for head coach Torrance Beard at Holt High School in Alabama and was the team's leading scorer for each of the past three seasons.

"We are really excited to add RaAnthony to our program. He has the frame and ability to be a big guard who can shoot and score in Conference USA," Conroy said about the latest addition to the Green Wave. "He really compliments our roster and fits in our attacking style of play with skill set."

Sanders was named Class 4A All-State honorable mention following this senior season when he posted 22.1 points, 11.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game He also hit 51.3 percent of his field goals. He knocked down 78 3-pointers on the season and had nine games with five or more long range shots.

"RaAnthony has great basketball feel and was well coached by Coach Beard at Holt High School," Conroy added. "He is a player who flew under radar a bit because he didn't play on the AAU circuit last July. His best days are ahead of him and we are thrilled to have him join the our Tulane family."

Sanders will be one of three freshmen on Tulane roster in the fall. The Green Wave returns 11 of the members of the 2011-12 roster, including the Conference USA Freshman of the Year Ricky Tarrant.
