NEW ORLEANS - Louis Dabney, a sophomore guard for the Tulane men's basketball team, was named second team All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA), it was announced this past weekend.

Dabney started 33 of the Green Wave's 34 games and helped guide Tulane to a 17-17 overall record, an 8-8 Conference USA mark and an appearance in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

The New Orleans, La., native averaged a team-high 15.2 points, pulled down 4.1 rebounds and dished out 2.0 assists per game, while leading the team with 151 made free throws and 41 steals. During the season, Dabney scored in double figures in 25 games with seven games of 20-plus points, including a career-best 31 points against Colgate.

Dabney joined Louisiana Tech's Kenneth Smith, LSU-Shreveport's Brandon Davis, LSU's Jordan Mickey and McNeese State's Ledrick Eackles on the second team. The LSWA first team consisted of Louisiana-Lafayette's Elfrid Payton, LSU's Johnny O'Bryant, Northwestern State's Jalan West, ULL's Shawn Long and Jonathan Blount of Centenary.

The awards were voted on by a panel if statewide media members and sports information directors.
