NEW ORLEANS - After earning the most wins in 13 seasons, the Tulane men's basketball team will be playing in the postseason for the first time since the 1999-2000 season after accepting a bid to play in the 2013 CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT).
The Green Wave will host South Alabama on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT in Devlin Fieldhouse, marking the first time Tulane will host a men's basketball postseason game since 1996 when they defeated Illinois State to advance to Madison Square Garden in the NIT.
This season, under third-year head coach Ed Conroy, the Green Wave won 19 games, the most since the 1999-2000 team won 20 and advanced to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT).
"This is an outstanding opportunity for our program," Conroy said. "Our goal each season has been to make a postseason tournament and we are very excited to be able to be a part of the CIT and even more excited to able to play in Devlin Fieldhouse."
The CIT, in its fifth season, is a 32-team tournament played at institutions around the nation and features schools from 23 Division I conferences. Previous champions of the CIT including Mercer (2012), Santa Clara (2011), Missouri State (2010) and Old Dominion (2009).
Tickets for the 2013 CIT opening round game in Devlin Fieldhouse are available for as low as $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
