NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's basketball team has accepted a berth in the National Invitation Tournament and will face North Carolina State in the tournament's first round.
The Green Wave (20-10) will face the Wolfpack (17-12) in Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday, March 14. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. CST.
Tulane defeated N.C. State, 73-62, earlier this season in New Orleans on Dec. 22. It will be the ninth meeting of the two schools in a series that dates back to 1925.
It is the ninth postseason appearance for Tulane in 90 seasons of basketball, and its sixth appearance in the NIT. The Green Wave has an all-time record of 7-5 in NIT play with a third-place finish to its credit in 1996.
Under the guidance of head coach Perry Clark, Tulane has now made seven postseason appearances overall.
The Tulane-N.C. State winner will advance to face the winner of the New Mexico State-Arizona State matchup.
