Men's Basketball
Timmons Named All-Conference USA

March 7, 2011

NEW ORLEANS - Kendall Timmons, a sophomore forward for the Tulane men's basketball team, was named second-team All-Conference USA; it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The voting was done by the conference's 12 head coaches and selected media members from around the league.

Timmons led Tulane (13-16, 3-13 C-USA) in scoring with 17.0 points per game, rebounding with 8.5 per game and steals with 58 total. The Fort Worth, Texas, native also collected 93 assists, the second most on the team, and hit 20 3-point field goals.

His numbers placed him sixth in scoring and fourth in rebounding in C-USA and his steals placed him second.

"This is a great honor for not only myself, but for my team as well," Timmons said. "I could not have had the season I did without the help of all my teammates and coaches."

Timmons scored in double figures in 27 of Tulane's 29 regular season games, including 15 of the 16 conference games. He also collected nine doubles doubles, including five in league play.

His career-high 33 points and 19 rebounds performance against Lamar in late December earned Timmons the C-USA Player of the Week honor.

Timmons, who was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team last year, is the first Tulane player to be named All-Conference since David Gomez was named second-team in 2008.

Tulane opens the 2011 Buick Conference USA Men's Basketball Championships Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. CST against Southern Miss at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
