NEW ORLEANS - Coming off a two-game road trip, the Tulane men's basketball team returns to Fogelman Arena Wednesday to host Rice at 7 p.m. CST in the Conference USA match-up.
The Green Wave (12-8, 2-5 C-USA) has dropped five straight games, including a pair on the road last week. Tulane fell at UTEP, 69-65, last Wednesday and lost at Southern Miss, 67-54, on Saturday.
Rice (10-11, 2-5, C-USA) had a two-game winning streak snapped by SMU on Saturday, 75-68.
These two teams, both tied for ninth place in the conference standings, met to open the C-USA schedule in Houston on Jan. 5. Tulane defeated Rice, 85-81, in a game that saw 18 ties and 18 lead changes.
"Nothing really changes with our preparation for this game," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said of having defeated the Owls already once this season.
"It is nice to be home and play in front of our fans that have been great all year," he added. "We expect a good crowd to be behind us tomorrow night."
Tulane is 8-2 in historic Fogelman Arena this season.
Arsalan Kazemi leads Rice with 16.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per contest. The sophomore poured in 28 points and grabbed 13 boards in the loss to Tulane earlier this season.
This will be the 46th meeting between the two schools and the Green Wave owns a 24-21 series lead. Tulane has won eight straight, including the victory this season at Rice. The Green Wave also leads the series, 16-6, in games played in New Orleans.
The official celebration of the first 100 seasons of Tulane basketball continues on Wednesday with the announcement of the All-Decade team of the 70's. Tulane will honor the decade by recognizing the top five players from 1970-79 during halftime of the game. The players were decided by a fan vote at www.tulanegreenwave.com/100years.
In addition to honoring the players from the 70's, the first 100 fans to arrive at Fogelman Area will receive a commemorative pint glass highlighting the era. The glass is the fourth of eight collectable glasses handed out at the remaining home games this season to commemorate the first 100 seasons.
