NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's men's basketball guard Jonathan Stark was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week for his efforts in the Green Wave's first two conference games of the season, it was announced on Monday by the league office.
The weekly conference honors are chosen by a media panel representing the 16 member schools.
Stark averaged 17.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in the opening weekend of C-USA play. He scored 14 points at Tulsa on Thursday and a game-high 20 points in the 73-62 victory at North Texas on Saturday.
The Munford, Tenn., native connected on three-of-four three pointers and five-of-seven free throws in the win over the Mean Green. Stark was also charged with guarding NT's leading scorer, Alzee Williams, and helped hold the guard to zero points in the game.
