NEW ORLEANS - In the final non-conference game of the season and the opening contest of the 2014 calendar year, the Tulane men's basketball team hosts Hofstra at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday in Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Green Wave (7-7) closed out the 2013 year with a 72-41 loss to Kansas State in Brooklyn last Saturday. Hofstra (4-8) snapped a two-game losing streak on Monday night with a victory over visiting NJIT.

20-0 Run Sparks Men's Basketball's Victory over Hofstra
Using a 20-0 run to open the second half, the Tulane men's basketball team rolled to a83-62, victory over Hofstra on Saturday afternoon in the opening game of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational at the Barclays Center.


"This is our final test before we begin conference play," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "We have had a few good days of practice and our guys know how important it is to be going in the right direction at this point in the season."

Tulane is led by a trio of guards. Sophomore Louis Dabney heads up the group with 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while freshman Jonathan Stark adds 17.1 points and 4.4 assists per outing and junior Jay Hook chips in with 15.4 points and 6.0 boards a contest.

Hofstra is led by guard Zeke Upshaw. The graduate student is posting 17.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game as the only member of the Pride in double figures.

This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools. Tulane owns a 3-1 series advantage, including three wins in a row. The teams last met on Dec. 22, 2012 in Brooklyn, N.Y. with Tulane taking an 83-62 decision.

The Green Wave opens its final season in Conference USA when Tulane travels to Tulsa and North Texas on Jan. 9 and 11, respectively.
