NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's men's basketball team looks to begin the New Year the same way it closed out 2010 as the Green Wave host Texas-Pan American on Sunday at 5 p.m. CST in Fogelman Arena.

Tulane (9-3) has won three straight games, including a 93-77 victory over Lama on Thursday in the final game of 2010. In addition to winning three straight, the Green Wave have won seven straight games in Fogelman Arena.

"This is going to be a good test for us to see how we respond with two days between games," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "We know that we have to be ready for conference play next week and these final two non-conference games are geared to get us to that point. (UT) Pan Am will show us different looks on both offense and defense so we will have to be ready for that."

UTPA (3-12) enters the New Year looking to end a six-game losing streak. The Broncos fell at home to Army, 66-58, on Dec. 29. UTPA's last win came over Victory on Dec. 5, 101-94.

Kendall Timmons leads Tulane into the game. The sophomore has posted double figures in 10 straight games, including pouring in a career-high 33 points with 19 rebounds in Thursday's victory over Lamar. Timmons is posting 17.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Senior Kris Richard adds 13.1 points, while sophomore Jordan Callahan (12.2) and Aaron Holmes (10.6) also are averaging double figures.

As a team, the Green Wave are scoring 73.9 points per game and allowing 61.2. Tulane is shooting 44.6 percent from the floor and holding opponents to 42.2 percent.

UTPA is scoring 67.9 points per game and are led by senior guard Perry Petty's 17.0 per contest. Sophomore Aaron Urbanus is also averaging in double figures with his 11.9 per game. The Broncos' opponents are posting 76.9 points a game and are shooting 47.6 percent from the floor.

This will be the third meeting between the two schools. Tulane won the previous two contests, including the last meeting, 90-74, on Dec. 22, 1990 in Edinburg, Texas.

This game is the final non-conference outing of the season for the Green Wave who begin Conference USA play on Wednesday when they travel to Houston to take on Rice at 7 p.m. CST.
