All 14 Score as Green Wave Roll Over Alabama State
Nov. 30, 2009 NEW ORLEANS - All 14 Tulane players scored at least two points and played at least eight minutes as the Green Wave rolled to an 82-55 victory over Alabama State on Monday evening in Fogelman Arena. The Green Wave (3-3) has now evened their record with the second straight victory. ""Well, it was a great team win for our guys." Tulane head coach Dave Dickerson said. "I thought coming into today's game that we were going to play well because yesterday's practice was as good of a practice as we have had all year. I thought our guys would be down a little bit because of the emotion of the George Mason game before we came in and had a great practice." Kris Richard led Tulane with 21 points and was the only player on either team in double figures in scoring. The junior guard connected on eight of 10 field goals, including four of six from 3-point range in just 16 minutes of playing time. Terrance Beasley was next of the team with a career-high eight points, while Kevin Sims added seven points and eight assists. Johnny Mayhane chipped in with seven points as well, while Geoff Hogan, Eric Vianney, Kendall Timmons and Asim McQueen each added six points. "Those first eight or nine guys really set the tone for the game," Dickerson added. "Our starters played great as well. "
Alabama State (1-3) was led by Tramayne Moorer and Jeffery Middlebrooks with nine points each. Byron Walker and Menji Mundadi each posted eight points, while Walker had a game-high seven rebounds. Tulane jumped out to 7-0 lead and 11-2 and never looked back as Alabama State never got closer than eight the rest of the game. The Green Wave shot a season-high 56.9 percent from the floor, hitting 29 of 51 shots. Tulane also dished out 21 assists. Tulane's defense forced 17 Alabama State turnovers which led to 25 points. TU also collected 10 steals and held the Hornets to just 33.3 percent shooting from the floor. Alabama State id outrebound Tulane, 38-29. Tulane led 46-21 at the break, the first time all season the Green Wave have led after the first 20 minutes. The largest lead of the game came after a Vianney free throw that put Tulane up 72-35 with 7:20 left to play. The Green Wave led by at least 30 points for almost the final 16 minutes before ASU's Ivory White hit a 3-pointer with 0:16 left that made the final score 82-55. The Green Wave complete the three-game home stand on Wednesday when cross-town rival New Orleans visits Fogelman Arena at 7 p.m. CST.
