NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- David Gomez scored 22 points and had seven rebounds to help Tulane hold on to a 66-60 win over Charleston Southern on Monday night.
Jamarco Warren missed a 3-pointer with eight seconds to go that would have cut the deficit to one for the Buccaneers (1-1).
The Green Wave (2-0) missed three of four foul shots in the final 14 seconds, but managed to get the rebound and a put back on their final miss with three seconds to go to seal the win.
A 3-pointer by Gomez two minutes in gave Tulane an 8-6 lead. The Green Wave would have the lead for all but two minutes the rest of the game, including the entire second half. Their biggest margin was 58-47 with 3:32 to go.
Warren led Charleston Southern with 18 points, while Chris Moore added 17.
