What They're Saying

Michael Aubrey

"I would put him in the same category as Tino Martinez and Luis Gonzalez. He's got the total package. Half the time teams don't want to pitch to him, and the better the pitching, the better he gets. He's a great teammate and just goes about his work. I know how hard Tino worked to get where he got, and Michael has some of the same characteristics. He's one of the few guys who doesn't have many flaws. He picks up little things from pitchers. While other guys are at the end of the dugout spitting sunflower seeds, he's studying the pitcher. I can't say enough good things about him."
--Lelo Prado, University of Louisville head coach, 2002 Team USA head coach

"He's the best college hitter I've ever had the opportunity to work with. He makes adjustments so well - if you get him out one way, you won't get him out that way again. If I really need a hit, be it a double or a home run or whatever the situation calls for, that's the guy I want up there."
--Terry Alexander, Jacksonville University head coach, 2002 Team USA Assistant Coach

"Michael Aubrey is one of the elite hitters in the country. When we competed against Tulane, he was the guy that we didn't want to beat us. You have to pitch very carefully to him."
--George Horton, Cal State Fullerton head coach

"Michael Aubrey is the most complete player in Conference USA. He has been consistent in his outstanding performances over the last three years and is certainly one of the best players in college baseball today."
--Larry Giarngrosso, UAB head coach

"He really has great plate discipline. He seldom chases pitches out of the zone and always has a plan at the plate. While many talk about it, few execute like he does. You could always count on a great at-bat from Michael in a critical situation."
--Steve Cohen, USA Baseball’s national team director
