Summer Ball: Spent the past three summers with Team USA, playing on the Junior National Team in 2000 and with the National Team in 2001 and 2002... in 2002, earned USA Baseball Athlete of the Year honors after leading the team in batting average (.405), home runs (6), RBI (26), hits (45), slugging percentage (.667), on-base percentage (.469) and runs scored (25)... became first player to hit over .400 with a wooden bat... helped the 2002 team go 23-7, win the gold medal at the Harlaam Baseball Week and a silver medal at the World University Championships, and take a 3-2 series win over Japan... tied a team record with two home runs in a game against the Keen Swamp Bats, and his batting average ranks eighth in Team USA history... in 2001, hit .233 (14-for-60) with two home runs, two doubles, a triple and eight RBI while pitching 1.0 inning of scoreless baseball as the National Team finished 21-7-1... in 2000, helped the Junior National Team win the silver medal at the IBA World Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada after tallying a 2.53 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 10.2 innings of work...

High School: Four-year starter at Southwood High for coach Shannon Cunningham, seeing time at first base, outfield and pitcher... tallied a 30-11 career record on the mound... earned all-district and all-city honors all four years as a prepster, and was named district and city MVP as a junior and senior... earned all-state honors his final two prep seasons, and was named Gatorade Player of the Year for Louisiana as a senior when he hit .503 and tallied a 1.02 ERA... set Southwood's single-season hitting record with a .573 average as a junior... also set school single-game strikeout record with 20 against Bishop Lynch of Dallas as a senior... helped lead the Cowboys to the state playoffs as a senior, and helped Southwood earn district championships his final two prep seasons... off the diamond, was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Club, and was elected to the Junior Prom Court.
