The 2008 season is an especially exciting year for Tulane University's baseball program and the entire campus community. In another indication of Tulane's remarkable progress since the storm, Green Wave baseball is gearing up for the upcoming season with the grand opening of the new Greer Field at Turchin Stadium prior to first pitch of the season-opener on Friday, Feb. 22, vs. Illinois Chicago.
Greer Field at Turchin Stadium is one of the finest collegiate baseball facilities in the country. Coupled with the Mickey Retif Memorial Clubhouse and the Theresa Sofio Indoor Hitting Facility, the on-campus stadium provides Tulane Baseball with the amenities appropriate for one of the nation's premier collegiate baseball programs. Further, the completion of Greer Field at Turchin Stadium marks the first entirely new construction on Tulane's Uptown campus since Hurricane Katrina.
The new Greer Field at Turchin Stadium features a grandstand design of structural steel and a new playing surface. The project also increases the number of chair-back seats in the stadium from 900 to over 2,700 and adds private suites, an open-air club suite, a partially covered seating area and a new press box. Updated netting and sound systems, a new outfield wall, new concession stands, new restrooms and an expanded merchandise sales area are also included.
TAF donors at the Coach's Corner ($1,500 or more annually) giving level will have access to an open-air club suite with private concessions. Four private suites flank the club suite on the first-base line and include air conditioning and restrooms. Private suites, which will be sold on multi-year leases as well as on a single-game and series basis, are accessible via elevator, which also provides access to the press box.
For the first time, the press box includes individual broadcast booths, Ethernet capability and expanded space for the print media. For more information regarding suite rentals and leases, please contact the ticket office at (504) 861-WAVE.
Highlighting the Green Wave's 36-game home season includes non-conference series against Illinois-Chicago (Feb. 22-24), UC-Irvine (March 7-9), Oakland (March 14-16) and Sacred Heart (March 21-23) and C-USA weekends vs. Marshall (April 4-6), Southern Miss (April 18-20), UCF (May 2-4) and Rice (May 15-17).
