NEW ORLEANS - If fans of the Green Wave baseball program look at the schedule and feel like some things are out of place, they may be partially right. Tulane will open the 2013 schedule on the road for the first time since 2006 and just the third time since Rick Jones took over at the helm. The Olive and Blue faithful can take comfort in not seeing the opening weekend of college baseball at Turchin Stadium by looking at the 32 home dates that dot the 2013 slate.

Tulane will begin the season in San Marcos, Texas at the Bobcat Invitational with three games versus a to-be-announced field from Feb. 15-17. This marks the first time since 2006, when they played in the Houston Collegiate Classic, that Jones will take his team on the road to open a college baseball season. The only other time Tulane has opened on the road during the Jones era came in 2002 at Pepperdine.

The home portion of the schedule opens with the first of four meetings between the Green Wave and Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 19 before they welcome Notre Dame to the Crescent City. It will be the first meeting with the Fighting Irish since the two teams met in the Starkville Regional in 2000. The two storied programs will play the three-game series on the Turf at Turchin from Feb. 22-24. After the quick homestand, they will head to Nicholls State for a Tuesday, Feb. 26 tilt before hosting New Orleans on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

The month of March begins with a trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a three-game set with the University of Alabama (March 1-3) at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Green Wave won two of three games versus the Tide last season and will play in Tuscaloosa for the first time since 1965 when the two schools were both members of the Southeastern Conference.

After playing seven of their first 12 games away from the friendly confines of Turchin Stadium, the Olive and Blue will play 14 of their next 15 games on the Uptown turf. A pair of midweek games against Northwestern State (March 5-6) begins a five-game week, with High Point slated for three games from March 8-10. After a quick trip up I-55 to face Southeastern Louisiana on March 12, the Wave will open up a nine-game homestand versus the Lions on March 13.

Three games versus the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) runs from March 15-17 and New Orleans will oppose the Greenies on March 19. The Conference USA slate opens the following weekend when Memphis comes to town from March 22-24. After hosting LSU in their first matchup of 2013, Tulane will travel to Rice (March 29-31) and Southern Miss (April 5-6). In between, the Green Wave will play a midweek contest versus Nicholls State on April 2.

The only home series of the fourth month of the year will be when East Carolina ventures into the Pelican State on April 12-14, while Southeastern Louisiana closes the month for Tulane at Turchin Stadium on April 30. The other six remaining games in April will be played on the road at Louisiana-Lafayette (April 16), at LSU (April 24) and at Marshall (April 26-28).

The final month of the regular season will feature only one road series - at UCF on April 10-12 - and the Wave will ride home with eight home contests. New Orleans opens the month on May 1 on the Turf at Turchin before Houston comes to town for a three-game set from May 3-5. Nicholls State will oppose the Olive and Blue on April 7 before they head to Orlando to face the Knights. The final regular season series will take place from April 17-19 when UAB comes to town for the Thursday, Friday, Saturday series.
