NEW ORLEANS - With just a few weeks remaining before classes resume, a handful of Tulane student-athletes traveled to Children's Hospital New Orleans on Friday afternoon to put some smiles on the faces of patients.

Junior Xavier Rush (football), freshman Tanzel Smart (football), freshman Brandon Godfrey (football), freshman William Townsend (football), sophomore Richard Carthon (football and baseball), sophomore Hunter Lapeyre (baseball), senior Andrew Garner (baseball) and former Tulane tennis star and current graduate assistant Caroline Thornton brought joy to many of the young patients by visiting with them and their families. The student-athletes also brought Tulane memorabilia for the children, such as Tulane sunglasses and Olive and Blue Mardi Gras beads.

The student-athletes visited about 30 rooms over the course of their visit. This marked the second time this summer that Tulane has made the trip to CHNOLA, as approximately 15 football players made a stop there in late June.

On Saturday, the Tulane football team will hold their first day of fall camp. The remainder of the baseball team will report to campus by the first day of classes.
