NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane University's Turchin Stadium will be the site of one of 16 NCAA Baseball Regional May 25-27, the NCAA announced Monday. It will mark the first time that Tulane has played host to a baseball regional tournament. Three teams will join the Green Wave in the New Orleans Regional. Those teams will be announced on an ESPN national television broadcast next Monday, May 21 at 2 p.m. CDT.

"I'm pleased for our team, for our fans and for New Orleans," said Tulane Director of Athletics Rick Dickson. "We definitely feel we have a team that is more than deserving of serving as the regional host with one of the best records in the country. Our facility is top-notch and our fans have set an attendance record this year. I think all of those factors, plus a very competitive bid, put us in perfect position to land this regional."

The four-team regional begins Friday, May 25 with games scheduled for 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Turchin Stadium. Saturday's games will be played at 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with Sunday's finale to be played at 1 p.m., followed immediately by Game 7, if necessary.

Tulane began taking orders for the potential regional two weeks ago and has already sold out of the $75 reserved grandstand tournament tickets. Reserved seats in the bleachers are still available for $60 for the entire tournament. Season ticket holders who have not contacted the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office regarding reserving their seats for the regional should do so immediately by calling 504-861-WAVE. Individual game bleacher tickets will be available on the day of the game only -- subject to availability -- for $10 per game. For complete ticket and game information, fans should call 504-861-WAVE or come by the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office in the James W. Wilson Center. Information, as well as order forms for tickets, are also available on the internet at www.TulaneGreenWave.com.

"I am very happy for our players who have earned this through their hard work and for our fans who have been so supportive," said Tulane Head Coach Rick Jones. "I know everyone associated with Tulane will do everything we can to make this one of the best tournaments in the country."

Tulane played in regional tournaments in New Orleans in 1982 and 1987 when UNO's Privateer Park served as the site for four- and six- team regionals, respectively.
