NEW ORLEANS- The Green Wave baseball club will play their final midweek regular season game of 2009 as they travel across town to take on UNO in game three of the First NBC Bank Cup Series. Tulane enjoyed two previous victories over the Privateers earlier this year.

Tulane (28-20, 9-9 C-USA) is coming off a winning weekend that found the Wave taking two of three from Conference USA rival Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss, marking their fourth straight C-USA series win. Tulane received a stellar Friday night performance from righty Jonathan Garrett, as the senior opened up the series by throwing a career-high 13 strikeouts in his complete-game outing. Garrett, who received Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for his efforts on the hill, gave up just two runs on five hits, while only issuing one base on balls en route to the 7-2 win to improve his record to 5-1.

Collectively from the mound, the Green Wave arms sport a 4.53 team ERA while having thrown a combined 419.2 innings of service. The staff has logged 313 strikeouts and hold opposing bats to a .265 average. Tulane will send southpaw Aaron Loup to the mound Wednesday to face UNO. Loup (2-4, 6.11 ERA) picked up the win in an earlier game against UNO while also logging the victory over LSU earlier in the season. The Luling, La. native has thrown 45.2 innings of service while striking out a team-high 45 batters.

The Green Wave offense was propelled by seniors Drew Allain and Seth Henry, who hit .636 and .500, respectively, in the three-game set against Southern Miss. Allain went 7-11 with a double and a home run, while knocking in four runs. Henry tallied five hits in his 10 at bats, picking up four doubles and five RBI in addition to a stolen base along the way. Freshman Jeremy Schaffer continued to stay hot, with the rookie catcher posting a .455 average in the series while also picking up his eleventh home run, to bring his season RBI total to 47. Tulane's every day catcher, Schaffer was named to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List earlier in the week. The award is given to the nation's top Division I catcher. Senior first baseman Sam Honeck also added to his RBI total, which now stands at 65, in addition to logging his sixteenth home run.

The Green Wave's midweek rival UNO is coming off its third straight Sun Belt Conference series win on Sunday following a 5-3 win at Florida Atlantic. The Privateers (19-28, 10-14 Sun Belt) scored five runs in the first two innings and held on late, as the Privateers got a key series victory in its race to make the eight-team Sun Belt Tournament. Nick Mitchell went 2-for-2 with three RBIs before leaving in the second inning due to injury, and Nick Schwaner added two hits and two RBIs. Freshman Joe Zimmermann (3-3) tossed five scoreless innings to get the win, and senior David Burch notched his eighth save after retiring all seven batters he faced. Righty John Pivach (0-1, 7.78) will get the nod against Tulane on Wednesday.

The series finale between Tulane and UNO is slated for 6:30PM at Maestri Field at Privateer Park.
