Cannizaro leads C-USA with 30 stolen bases this season.

Senior shortstop Andy Cannizaro hit .615 on the week and earned Conference USA Hitter of the Week honors the league office announced Monday.
This is the first time Cannizaro has been named the conference hitter of the week in his four seasons at Tulane.
Cannizaro recorded eight hits in 13 at bats, with two doubles and sent in four RBI, leading Tulane to a 3-1 week. He posted an on base percentage .647 and was 3-for-4 in stolen bases. He played flawless defense at shortstop.
Against Houston on Saturday, Cannizaro was 3-for-5 and tied a season high three RBI.
On the season, Cannizaro is hitting .352 with a league high 58 hits and 30 stolen bases.
The Tulane (31-8, 10-5 C-USA) baseball team improved its ranking in two national polls, after a 3-1 week, which included a 7-6 win over No. 2 LSU. Tulane gained the most ground in the Baseball America Top-25 Poll, where the Wave moved from 16 to 11. This ties the highest regular season ranking during Rick Jones' tenure at Tulane. The Green Wave was also ranked No. 11 in 1997. Collegiate Baseball has the Wave in the No. 23 spot.
