NEW ORLEANS, La. - Radio station WWL 870 AM and its parent company, Entercom of New Orleans, will sponsor the three-game baseball series between Tulane and the University of New Orleans in 2001, Entercom General Manager Craig Jacobis and Tulane Associate Athletic Director for Corporate Development Scott Sidwell announced Thursday.
WWL 870 AM becomes the media sponsor for all three games, which will be played at Zephyr Field. The first contest is slated for Tuesday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. while the second and third games are scheduled for Tuesday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m.
"The rivalry that exists between these two institutions is rich in history and tradition," Jacobus said. "WWL - 870 AM & Entercom's family of stations here in New Orleans are excited about being involved with this great collegiate baseball series right here in our own community at Zephyr Field."
In addition to WWL 870 AM, Entercom of New Orleans also owns stations WSMB 1350 AM, WEZB 97.1 FM, WLMG 101.9 FM, WKZN 105.3 FM and WTKL 95.7 FM in New Orleans.

To recognize the sponsorship, the three-game baseball series between Tulane and UNO in 2001 will be called the WWL 870 AM/Entercom Cup with the team that wins two of the three games presented a trophy.
