Senior Conrad Flynn Won HIs Second Career C-USA Pitcher of the Week Award on Monday, March 14

March 14, 2011

NEW ORLEANS - After a stellar performance on the mound versus Wichita State this weekend, senior Conrad Flynn was named to the Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week. This is the first C-USA weekly award for the Green Wave this season and marks the second time in Flynn's career that the conference office has recognized him with the pitcher of the week honor.

Flynn picked up his first win since April 2, 2010 on Friday night with a masterful performance against nationally-ranked Wichita State. The senior didn't walk a batter and faced just four batters over the seven-inning minimum. He allowed just one runner past second base in the contest and retired the side in order in four innings, including the Green Wave's first pick off of a base runner of the year in the fourth. It marks the 14th time in 32 career series-opening starts that Flynn issued no walks in a game.

The senior ranks tenth in Conference USA with a 2.16 ERA this season and has struck out a team-high 26 batters, which sits sixth on the C-USA list. Flynn is limiting the opponents to just a .234 batting average and has issued just two walks in 25 innings of mound work. He owns a WHIP of just 0.96 and his career walks-per-nine innings pitched ratio of 1.05 ranks first in school history.

The Green Wave will play a pair of home midweek contests, with Southeastern Louisiana coming to Turchin Stadium on Tuesday, March 15 and Alcorn State on Wednesday, March 16. For ticket information, contact the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office at (504) 861-WAVE or log onto
