Players from the last six decades will be on hand for Tulane baseball's Alumni Day

NEW ORLEANS - On Saturday, former Tulane baseball players who once donned the Olive and Blue at some point over the last six decades will appear at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium once again for Alumni Day.

Saturday will be a day full of activities, as an Old Timers Game with rosters comprised of players from 1993 and before will square off against one another. Following that contest, the 2014 roster will play a group of players who have been on previous rosters under Tulane baseball head coach Rick Jones. That contest will begin at 2:00pm CT.

The gates open at 10:00am CT. The entire group of former players will be introduced by the Voice of the Green Wave, Todd Graffagnini, at 1:30pm CT.

Admission for the festivities is free. Concessions will be sold in Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

"We haven't had an alumni game in four or five years, so to have something like this again is something I am really excited about," said Jones, who is entering his 21st season as the skipper of the Green Wave. "We have a lot of former great players who have had such an impact on this program and my career. This is a weekend that I am really excited about."

Over 70 former players have already RSVP'd for the event, and many more are expected to attend. Former Green Wave players who have spent time in the Major Leagues who are attending will be Michael Aubrey, Brian Bogusevic, Brad Emaus, Brandon Gomes, Tommy Manzella, Kevin Mmahat, Josh Prince and Mike Romano.



In addition to those who spent some time at the top level of baseball, a slew of former All-Americans, All-Conference players, minor leaguers and draft picks will attend Saturday's festivities. Two former Tulane coaches in Joe Brockhoff and Milt Retif will be joined in the dugout by former player Bill Babin in coaching the team that will face the current squad of Green Wave players.

In one week, the regular season will open at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium when the Green Wave welcome Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a four-game weekend series, including a Saturday doubleheader.

On opening night, Friday, Feb. 14, fans can come listen to the Pocket Aces Brass Band in front in between Greer Field at Turchin Stadium and the Wilson Center from 4-6pm CT before heading into the park for the first game of the 2014 campaign. Food and beverages will be available.
