New Orleans - When Tulane's nationally prominent baseball program takes the field for the 2010 campaign, the Green Wave will have a new flagship radio station as TU Director of Athletics Rick Dickson announced today that Tulane Athletics has reached an agreement with AM 690 WIST to carry all of the Green Wave's games during the upcoming season.

"We are pleased to expand our partnership with WIST," Dickson said. "With the addition of our baseball and women's basketball teams as part of their programming, this now provides one home for all our programs and the format change to Fox Sports, combined with the signal strength of the station, makes this the best radio package Tulane Athletics has been a part of over the past 10 years. WIST and TU will continue to work on additional programming that will provide further exposure for Green Wave athletics."

The Green Wave will play 56 games during the 2010 regular season and every game can be heard live on AM 690 WIST, or via the All-Access package on the internet at TulaneGreenWave.com. Tulane will open the season at home against Atlantic Coast Conference member Boston College on Friday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

"I believe moving our games to AM 690 WIST will be a major boost for our program," Tulane head baseball coach Rick Jones said. "They are a sports-oriented station with both local and national programming and it should bode well for our program and our fan base. They also have a very strong signal so this is a win-win situation for Tulane Baseball and our fans."

"WIST is excited to add Tulane Baseball to the radio station's new direction and we think it's a great fit with Fox Sports Radio and all of our local talk," WIST general manager Dan Frazier said. "Coach Jones has done an outstanding job and everyone at the station looks forward to a long term relationship with Tulane University Athletics."

With its studios located in the world famous French Quarter, near the Mississippi River, the Old United States Mint and the French Market, AM 690 WIST is a combination news/sports talk station and is a new affiliate of Fox Sports Radio. Local hosts include Kaare Johnson, Eric Asher, Gus Kattengell, Larry Holder, Kenny Wilkerson and Eric Richey, while the nationally syndicated sports talk show hosts are Dan Patrick, Stephen A. Smith, Tony Bruno and J.T. "The Brick."

WIST's signal has a tremendous reach throughout the Gulf Coast region. From Destin, Fla. to Beaumont, Texas, and all points in-between, 690 can be heard all along the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coast. The station broadcasts at 690 kHz with a power level of 10,000 watts daytime and 5,000 watts nighttime. WIST AM 690 is also the flagship station for the Tulane men's and women's basketball and football programs.
