Tulane Baseball to Hold Alumni Game

NEW ORLEANS - To mark the opening of the 2001 baseball season, the Green Wave baseball team will take on a team made up of its alumni on January 27th in Turchin Stadium. First pitch for the FREE exhibition game is at 1 p.m. Tulane, ranked 19th in Baseball America's preseason poll, opens the regular season versus Sam Houston State on Friday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Turchin Stadium.

All Green Wave baseball alumni are invited and encouraged to participate in the day's activities on the 27th. Former Greenies that will dust off the old glove and bat to participate include Jack Cressend of the Minnesota Twins, Jason Fitzgerald of the Akron Aeros (AA Cleveland Indians affiliate), and Tulane assistant coach and home run record holder Chad Sutter. Season tickets for the 2001 Tulane Baseball season are on sale now at the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office or by calling 504-861-WAVE. The 36-game home schedule includes games with local rivals LSU and UNO at Zephyr Field, a three-game series with Pepperdine in Turchin Stadium, as well as visits from Conference USA foes South Florida, Houston, UAB and Memphis. The Green Wave will also play host to the 2001 Conference USA Tournament at Zephyr Field this May.
