"When you're back's to the wall like ours was today against a club like Rice, you're going to have to have a great performance, and we had a great one today from Micah Owings. I don't know if you see many better than that one. .. He just had a great day. We were really good defensively again today. That looked like our club again. We kept making plays and pitching until we got that timely hit. It looked like our club again today, the club that we have had for most of the games this year."

(on Bogusevic's infield hit)
"That's his speed in your lineup there. He's our fastest guy. That's another reason he was drafted where he was is because he's a tremendous athlete. That's a chopper that I think caught the first baseman a little bit by surprise how fast he is."

(on Matt Riser's hit)
"Matt Riser hadn't had a whole lot of time at the plate, but he's been our defensive replacement late in the outfield. In a one-run ballgame at the time, we didn't want to take him out because they're hitting so many pop-ups in the air, you want to have your best outfield. So, we left him in there to hit, and he gets us the RBI and that was big, too."

(on if this was Owings' best pitching performance)
"It was his best game, complete game, first one for him this year. In a Super Regional, when you consider the stakes, no question."

(on Joe Savery's performance)
"I think you're looking at probably the first pick in the draft in two years. He's one of the outstanding freshmen in the country. If he's not the best freshman in the country, I don't know. To have a broken bone in his hand, and then we hit a line drive off of it again, he just kept coming at us. His fastball is down in the zone, and then he bores it right on both halves and that's darn tough. We had to have a great performance."

"We came out today and played the way we can play.

(on pitching match-up with Savery)
"I knew he was really talented, but I just took each batter, each hitter, individually and God blessed me through it."

(on if it was his best pitching performance)
"I think so. I've never had a complete-game shutout."

TULANE'S Brian Bogusevic

(on the infield hit in the 7th)
"It's the reaction that coach teaches us every day at practice that you run hard no matter what."

TULANE'S Matt Riser

(on the RBI single)
"I hit a curveball down and in. It was a good pitch, and I just got it through the hole."

"Well sometimes you just have to tip your cap. I think Owings pitched a great ball game. You rarely see at this level, that kind of pitching with that kind of stuff. He's probably thrown the best fastball we've seen this year. We've seen some great pitchers. He not only had great stuff, but great location. I thought our guy pitched wonderfully too considering his physical condition. It was a great pitched game until the seventh inning and for Owings to the ninth."

(On his Right Arm Which He Injured Friday)
"My (right arm) wasn't a factor today. I wanted to be careful with it and Danny (Lehmann, catcher) was tossing the ball back easy to me. I thought I spotted my fastball well today."

(On Line Drive that Hit Him)
"The ball was trying to find me (says jokingly). We ended up getting the out, so the play didn't hurt us."

(On Tulane Starter Micah Owings)
"He was throwing pretty hard today. You have to tip your hat to him. We didn't make any adjustments at the plate and when you don't make those adjustments, you don't get the hits you need or make any big plays. Now you have to come out tomorrow and be ready to play."
