TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones
Thoughts on the game
"We had a good day offensively. We're a better club then we've shown for quite some time, but today we had some good swings...some good level swings. We used the field, didn't hit a home run, but we hit a lot of line drives, went with the pitches and made some good two-strike adjustments."
On the team's offensive performance against UAB
"They used the field very well. Scelfo got back to being the kind of hitter that he can be today. He's worked really hard, he was really smooth and didn't try to muscle the ball and he used the middle of the field. Ty Wallace had another good day for us today, and it's been such a treat to watch him."
On the performance of starting pitcher Sean Morgan
"He had command of his breaker today and threw enough strikes early in the count. When he does that, he can be very good. His stuff is good and he didn't have to pitch too much in hitter's counts."
On the team's defensive performance on Thursday
"We've been very good defensively all year. When you look at our pitching and defensive numbers, we should have a lot more wins. But today, we finally swung it a little bit."
TULANE THIRD BASEMAN Brad Emaus
On the Green Wave's 21-hit performance against UAB
"I think we played a lot more relaxed today. I don't' think we had much pressure on us so we went out and played hard. That's what we did. We put good swings on some balls and we got some to fall."
On what was the difference between today and yesterday
"I think jumping out early helped us out a lot. We had a lot of hard-hit balls early, but it didn't show early in the first two or three innings when we didn't score. But we had a lot of guys on, we just kept building off of that, got some hits in key situations and kept going."
On if he thinks hitting is contagious
"There's no doubt that hitting in contagious - both ways. If you're not hitting, it's bad that way. And if you are hitting, it just seems to go well the other way."
TULANE STARTING PITCHER Sean Morgan
On his performance on Thursday
"I felt like I had my pitches working well today. I was spotting with my fastball which was huge and something I haven't had in a while. I left one up and the kid hit one out of the ballpark, and I have to tip my hat to that, but I felt really good out there."
On the difference between his performance today and previous rocky outings
"I just calmed down a little bit and didn't worry about all the things going around me. I was just worried about what I could do. I wanted to establish the strikezone early and I felt like I got off to a good start. It just kept building from there."
On getting a perfect day from his defense
"Everybody behind me, hitting wise and defensively, they really picked me up today. It makes it that much easier when you know that everyone behind you is doing a great job."
On pitching with a lead and getting a lot of run support
"It's always great when you get a lot of runs because you don't have to make perfect pitches every time. That helped me get comfortable and I just wanted to live in the strikezone."
